How You Met: Whitney and Benjamin knew each other from growing up in neighboring cities and attending Pelham High School, but they never met until years later, after they graduated from UAB and became members at Church of the Highlands. One Sunday following church, the two said hello. A few years later, Ben asked Whitney on a date. She agreed and they met at a local downtown restaurant, knowing instantly they were meant to be.

The Proposal: Local artists and musicians filled the streets of the River District in Savannah, Georgia, on a Friday evening in October 2019. Whitney and Benjamin headed down to the water to listen to a band and have dinner. As they walked along the water bank, a photographer was set up taking pictures. Whitney said, “Let’s ask her to take a picture of us.” A few moments later, the music stopped, and Benjamin got down on one knee and asked Whitney to marry him. Whitney didn’t know Benjamin had hired the photographer days before, setting this whole moment up and carrying the ring in his shoe the whole day!

What You Are Doing Now: Benjamin and Whitney live in Atlanta, Georgia, where they have bought a new house and are actively involved in their new church and community. Benjamin is starting doctorate school, and Whitney works in alumni relations and admissions for a doctorate program. They are excited to be expecting a baby this year.
