Haley Davenport & Hunter White: A Columbiana Wedding

How You Met: Hunter played sports against my (Haley’s) brother growing up, so we always seemed to end up in the same places. We took notice of each other in high school, but neither of us knew the other had a crush. We kept up through social media in college, but never acted on the high school crush. After college, we ran into each other and Hunter asked me to go to dinner. The rest was history; we were inseparable!

The Proposal: Hunter and I share a love for the beach. Both of our families have beach houses, and they are our favorite places to visit. We had a free weekend, so we decided to skip town and head to the beach. I thought it was just one of our usual quick weekend trips, but I was in for a surprise. He asked me if we could get dressed up and go down to the beach at sunset to take some pictures together. Once we got down there, he asked to go on a walk. He began talking about our future together and then dropped to one knee and popped the big question. It was perfect!

Favorite Moment: We both really enjoyed the special moment alone together after we said our vows in front of friends and family. It was special to be able to reflect on the day and that we had chosen to spend our lives together.

What You Are Doing Now: I am working as a kidney transplant surgery nurse practitioner at UAB Hospital. Hunter is working as a cardiac intensive care unit nurse at UAB Hospital, and he is also an officer in the United States Army Nurse Corps. We live in Chelsea with our teacup Yorkie, Murphy.
