Fall events look different than in years’ past, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with social distance. Here’s our roundup for this month.

1. Derby Party

Sept. 5 | 3-6 p.m.
Siluria Brewing Company

Don their hats your and dapper suits for a postponed Derby Party to benefit the Shelby Humane’s care for homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals. Tickets include beverage tokens, hors d’oeuvres catered by Taziki’s and K&J’s Elegant Pastries, live music by the 3 More Miles Band and the opportunity to win prizes. 2. Calera Main Street Farmers Market

Fridays | 4-7 p.m.

Did you know there’s a new farmer’s market in Calera? Join Calera Main Street in the Calera Courtyard off Highway 25 for fresh produce, gifts and more for through the end of September and possibly into pumpkin season too. The market is partnering with Medders Family Farm, Skull Girl Soaps, a new Main Street plant shop and other vendors.

3. Centennial Celebration

Sept. 12 | 2-5 p.m.
Cowart Drugs | Calera

For a century Cowart Drugs has operated in its original building (a former Masonic lodge dating to the late 1800s) on Highway 31 in the heart of Calera Main Street, serving customers with a personal, small-town friendliness, and now it’s time to celebrate its 100 years of business. Festivities will include axe-throwing demonstrations, classic cars on display, food, games and fun for children, and more. Cowart Drugs is located at 8320 Highway 31 in Calera.

1. Cotton Pickin’ Celebration

Oct. 3-4
Old Baker Farm

Come out to this historic farm to find pumpkins are ripe for harvest, and you can take a hayride, pick pumpkins or cotton, and explore the corn and hay maze while  you are tehre. There will also be farm animals to pet and exhibitors like handmade arts & crafts, blacksmiths, woodworkers and artists. Learn more at oldbakerfarm.com.

2. Buck Creek Festival

Oct. 23-24
Helena Amphitheater Park

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) might have delayed this annual event, but the plan is for it to go on rubber duck race and all with these new dates. The banks of Buck Creek will host crafts, children’s activities, food and music to benefit community projects.
