33rd Annual Liberty Day Celebration

Columbiana Main Street

The city of Columbiana’s 33rd annual Liberty Day will kick off the evening of Friday, June 28, and will continue on Saturday, June 29. Festivities will include live musical performances, local food and arts and crafts vendors, a car show, an art exhibit, a parade and fireworks on Saturday night.

Celebrate America!

Gates open at 11 a.m.

American Village

The American Village’s signature summer program will offer red, white and blue fun for the whole family on Tuesdays-Saturdays throughout July (excluding July 3-5). Read the Village Gazette when you arrive at the Visitors Center to find out each day’s revolutionary events. Choose one or all from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $5 (free to veterans, active military and children 4 and under. Gates open at 11 a.m. For more information, visit Americanvillage.org.

Fire on the Water

Gates open at 7 a.m.

Fireworks at 9 p.m.

Oak Mountain State Park

The city of Pelham’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show will start at 9 p.m., but there will be plenty to do at the park before the sun sets. A DJ and food trucks will be onsite as early as 10 a.m. for the lunch crowd. Beach volleyball and basketball courts, the Treetop Nature Trail, playground and fishing piers in the show’s vicinity will be open, too.

July 7

Jazz in the Park

6 p.m.

Helena Amphitheater

Jazz in the Park presented by Magic City Smooth Jazz will return to the Helena Amphitheater on Sunday, July 7, from 6-9 p.m. The free concert will be highlighted by musicians Daniel “Jose” Carr and Vann Burchfield.

Back-to-School Ice Cream Bash

2 p.m.

Parnell Memorial Library

What better way to close out the summer than to grab some ice cream and party? This bash is free and open to all local families. No registration is required prior to the event.

Vincent in the Park

4-9 p.m.

Vincent Municipal Park

The community is invited to come and browse arts and crafts vendors, enjoy eats from food vendors, visit a cruise-in car show and watch a fireworks show after the sun sets. The Lamont Landers Band is set to perform, and a Children’s Village will offer carnival rides and a trackless train. Admission is free.

Free Friday Flicks

Dusk

Veterans Park

The 2019 Free Friday Flicks series at Veterans Park off Valleydale Road in Hoover continues every Friday through July 26 at about 6:30 p.m. each week. The schedule for the remaining films is as follows: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World on July 12, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation on July 19 and The Incredibles 2 on July 26.
