HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?
We met online over social media. He asked me on a date, and I turned him down because I was nervous. It is a good thing he is so charming and persistent because he did not take that “no” for an answer. From that first date, I knew that I did not want to live life without him.
THE PROPOSAL
Connor is so thoughtful and wanted to plan the perfect surprise. He was graduating and was planning to use his graduation party as a ruse for his proposal to me. It was a great plan that had what I said I would want–our families there to celebrate and support us. I should’ve laid off the Scooby-Doo as a kid because I couldn’t leave it alone, when our families were dropping clues. I asked Connor that same day if he was proposing, and he said he was. I had ruined the surprise, or so I thought. When I showed up to help set up for his graduation party, I opened the door, and he was on one knee with candles surrounding the living room. He said he knew this was the only way I would be surprised. It was just the two of us, and it was perfect.
WEDDING DRESS DETAILS
I wanted a sleek, simple, almost retro dress. I found a dress in my price range that I really liked. We had a phenomenal seamstress add a French bustle and ordered the same material the dress was made of to make a pair of gloves to match. The gloves, bustle and open back are my favorite parts of my dress!
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE
Not only should you never be afraid to ask for help, but you should also choose what makes you and your partner happy. We didn’t have a wedding party. We had a small ceremony with a large reception–hours apart the same day. Your wedding should be whatever makes you happy!
