Sabrina Fitzgerald & Alec Etheredge: A Columbiana Wedding

The Proposal: On our first anniversary of dating, Alec surprised me (Sabrina) by sharing his plan for us to go to Disney World during Christmas Break that year. I figured out very quickly he planned to propose there. I do not like surprises. I told Alec I had figured out his plan, so he secretly moved up the proposal date to October. On Oct. 28, Alec took me to the pumpkin patch. When we got to Old Baker Farm, we walked past where the other people were walking to the pumpkins, and I started questioning him. He walked me to a beautiful table he had set up in front of a cotton field. The actual moment was a blur. Afterward, we went back to his house, where a party of our friends and family were waiting.

The Wedding Dress: I was all for a simple and plain dress. My mom and I went to three different shops searching for simple, but it wasn’t until we went to Village Bridal of Homewood that I found it! Anna at Village Bridal pulled so many beautiful gowns, and when they didn’t give me that “feeling,” she decided to go out on a leap of faith and pull this gorgeous, full-skirted princess gown. The second I saw it I knew it was the dress. I described it to my friends as a “princess running through the woods.”

Favorite Moment from the Big Day: Alec’s favorite part of the day was me walking down the aisle. In his words: “Just as she started to walk down at the top of the hill, the sun was starting to set behind her and just behind the trees, which set a glowing tone behind her. She looked like an angel and it was the most beautiful sight in the world.”
