How you met: J.R. and I (Kayle) met through mutual friends at a football party. The first thing I noticed and liked about J.R. was his ability to brighten up a room with his contagious laugh and smile. We eventually became friends, but only talked every now and then because I was living in Troy. One summer, while I was home for summer break, J.R. finally asked me out on a date. It was the best date ever. I think I smiled and laughed the whole time!

The Proposal: Every year, my family takes a beach trip together. I asked J.R. to go on this particular trip with us, not knowing what was in store. On the day of the proposal, we all got up that morning and headed straight to the beach, just like we had all week. My mom told me we were taking “family beach pictures” that afternoon. J.R. told me his mom had driven down to the beach to take some pictures for a friend, and wanted to stop by and see us. She offered to take our family pictures while she already had her camera out. Little did I know, my family was going to be a huge part of J.R.’s proposal. His mom really did take pictures of my family, but then she offered to take some of J.R. and me. We were posing for a hugging picture when J.R. looked me in the eyes and I said, “I love you.” Next thing I knew, he was on his knee and my family had lined up behind him, each holding a sign with a word on it. The signs that my dad, mom, sister and brother were holding spelled out, “Will you marry me?” The fact that my family was a part of J.R.’s proposal made it even sweeter.

Favorite moment from the big day: Thinking back to our wedding day, tons of beautiful moments flood my mind. Everything about our day was exactly what I had imagined and much more. I made some great memories with my bridesmaids as we got ready together, I had my mom and sister with me to help me put my dress and veil on perfectly, I shared the sweetest first look with my dad, I took pictures with family members who I love dearly, shared vows with the love of my life and danced the night away with the best of friends. I will never forget those moments. It was the best day ever!
