How You Met: Austin and I (PJ) grew up 16 miles apart from each other, but it took going to the same college for us to finally meet each other. We often discuss our past and then realize that we were both in the same place at the same time, but never noticed each other. Austin and I both cheered at UAB, however different years. This led us to have several mutual friends and eventually spending some time together. It was perfect timing, and I thank God every day he sent me Austin exactly when he did.
Favorite Moment from the Big Day: There is nothing more magical than hundreds of sparklers and all your favorite people screaming their best wishes. We got into the car, drove away and for the first time the entire day, it was just us with nothing but the sound of wind and other cars as we rode in the backseat of our 1929 Model A Ford convertible. This is when we started soaking in the events of the day. We drove through downtown Birmingham, the city where we met, and it looked different somehow.
Favorite Wedding Details: Austin and I are the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary. We wanted to use the traditional vows like our parents and grandparents, but also wanted make it personal. We wrote our own vows to read before the scripted vows. For the aisle during our ceremony, Austin and I made six wooden signs that had 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 written on them. Austin cut and stained the wood, and I wrote the words. Two of the signs now hang in our living room.
