Meagan Kathryn Mims of Chelsea and Brian Lee Barton of Florence were married on April 30, 2016 in a 5 p.m. ceremony at Douglas Manor. The wedding was officiated by Pastor Chris Underwood.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Donald Mims, Jr. of Chelsea. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs. Mildred Jones Terry and the late Mr. Herman Donald Mims, Sr. and Mrs. Alice Slauson Mims.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Barton of Florence. He is the grandson of late Charles Ernest Robison and Mrs. Sue Robison and the late Mr. John Edward Barton and Mrs. Myrtis Jean Barton.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. Meredith Mims Adams, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Attending bridesmaids included Melissa Beard-Bennett, Mary Champaigne, Jessica Haynie, Crawford McWilliams and Jenna Stoops.

Jessie Fuller served as the best man. Attending groomsmen included brother of the groom Chris Barton, Marcus Brimley, Kyle Walker and Adam Woods. Ring bearer was Eli Barton, nephew of the groom.

In keeping with wedding traditions, the bride wore a ring from her grandmother for something old; earrings from her groom for something new; a ring from her bridesmaid Mary for something borrowed; blue, jewel-adorned Badgley Mischka heels for something blue; and a six pence placed by her father in her shoe.

The reception was held in the barn at Douglas Manor. The reception concept and floral arrangements were designed by Elle Events. It featured catering from Chef’s of Panama City, Florida, by owner and sorority sister, Lindsey Noto. Cake Art by Cynthia Bertolone provided Meagan’s wedding cake and Brian’s chocolate covered strawberries. Deja’ Blue Band of Birmingham was charismatic and played hits from all decades. The couple left the reception in a 1953 Buick Eight Special Deluxe Formal named Jack.
