Lloyd’s
One Shelby County restaurant I used to love was Lloyds on Highway 280, which was one of my favorites for many years. One of my dear friends, Paul Craft, worked at Lloyd’s for more than 30 years. I was sad to hear they were closing. I loved their fried chicken, onion rings and slaw, too. My mom, who passed away in 2015, and I went there many times together and had fond memories there. It was her favorite restaurant as well.
Oak Mountain State Park
My sons and I love the outdoors, and Oak Mountain State Park is one of our favorite places to go and enjoy the many things offered at the park. The trails and lake are some of our favorite spots to visit. We often take our family dogs for hikes on these trails, too.
Oak Mountain Amphitheater
The Oak Mountain Amphitheater is another favorite spot of mine–especially for outdoor concerts. I have many memories with friends at our local concert venue over the years. I remember going when there was no stadium, and we all took a blanket to sit on during concerts. The first concert I attended there was one put on by James Taylor. Pictured is my family.
Helena’s Buck Creek Festival
One of my favorite yearly events in Shelby County is Helena’s Buck Creek Festival, which was held last October. My friends, family and I have enjoyed going every year for the concerts.
M&M Jewelers
For the past 33 years, my business, M&M Jewelers, has served the Shelby County community and beyond, thanks to the support of our loyal customers. I have three sons, Payton, Devon and Gabriel, who all came to work with me “as babies” and grew up around what I consider a family-oriented jewelry business. Whether customers need a simple watch battery, jewelry repair or an engagement ring, every customer will be treated with a smile.
