How You Met: We met in the sixth grade at Columbiana Middle School. We had band class together for two years and became really good friends, and then in the eighth grade, he (Kyle) finally asked me (Jordan) to be his girlfriend. We are really blessed to have found each other so young. We were able to share all of our homecomings, proms, softball and baseball games, college formals, and many milestones together.
The Proposal: We made plans to go to the beach with two of our best friends in the summer of 2018. Our friends had gotten engaged earlier that year, so I was told the plan was for me to take some engagement pictures for them. I was telling them how to pose when they asked me and Kyle to demonstrate for them while they held my camera. Once I handed my camera over, Kyle started saying the sweetest things and got down on one knee while our friends took pictures and recorded the whole thing. Looking back now, I can remember seeing how nervous Kyle was and how excited our friends were earlier that day, but I was totally oblivious.
Favorite Details: My brother playing the saxophone to our first dance. Our song was “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis, and my brother memorized the whole song for us. Honoring Kyle’s late father during the ceremony and reception. He was not physically there, but he was definitely there in spirit. Having a piece of my mother’s dress wrapped around my bouquet along with a handkerchief from my sorority with my badge and two of my sister’s badges pinned to it.
