How You Met: He (William) says it was love at first sight. I (Hayley) couldn’t remember his name. But he quickly turned my world upside down. Our first date was a St. Paul & the Broken Bones concert at the Alabama Theatre. How could I not fall for him?
The Proposal: He took me on a scenic scavenger hunt of Birmingham with video clues to lead me to each stop, including: Samford University (where he cheered for me as I was crowned Miss Alabama 2016), Sloss Furnaces (where we have enjoyed live music together), Boutwell Auditorium (the starting line of the half marathon we ran together), the Alabama Theatre (first date), and then he proposed at the Vulcan where we could see it all. I still have no idea what he said as he knelt because I was so emotional, but I said yes!
Favorite Wedding Details: One of my favorite details was my “family tree” highlighted at our reception with photos of the family members who’ve passed and couldn’t be there in flesh. My mom and I also made truffles as a wedding favor (Will’s favorite detail) and it might have been the most stressful detail of the wedding, but I am so happy my guests were given something meaningful and my mom and I had that time together thinking about each of them with every coating of chocolate.
