How You Met: Taylor and I (Emily) went to Shelby County High School together. We lost touch after we both graduated, but then a relationship sparked six years later after we reconnected through Facebook. He sent me a message on New Year’s Eve of 2014, and we began chatting daily. A week later we went on our first date. It was an instant connection. I knew that he was going to be the man I married one day.
The Proposal: Taylor took me and my son to where he and I had our first date, Vulcan in Birmingham, on December 10, 2016, and he popped the question. It was such a beautiful, clear-sky night with all the stars gleaming above. It could not have been more perfect.
The Wedding Dress: The designer of my wedding dress was Oleg Cassini. It was a stunning, cap-sleeved lace ball gown with beading and a sweetheart neckline. It made me feel more beautiful than I had ever felt in my life.
Favorite Wedding Details: One of my favorite things about my wedding day was the flowers. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the arrangements to my bouquet to the beautifully decorated arbor we stood in front of to say our vows. Some of my favorite flowers were incorporated into my bouquet, including peonies, dahlias, garden roses and anemones. The arbor was also very special to me. It was built by my brother for the wedding, but he made it to where we could hang a swing underneath it afterward and keep it forever.
