Head Over Teal 5K

The Preserve in Hoover
The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation is hosting its 8th Annual Head Over Teal 5K/10K and Fall Festival on Sept. 23. This family- and pet-friendly race takes participants on a 5K and 10K course. Don’t run off after the race: A fall festival awaits! Games, children’s inflatables, face painting, crafts and more will keep little ones happy. Harvest of Hope Luncheon

Shelby County Commissioner Mike Vest will speak at the 11th annual Harvest of Hope Luncheon to benefit Pelham-based Oak Mountain Missions Ministries. Helena Police Explorers Golf Tournament

The 9th annual Douglas W. Jones Memorial Golf Tournament is “fore” a good cause. The cost of the tournament is $100 per player and will include a round of golf, range balls, a gift bag, lunch following the conclusion of the round and automatic entry for door prizes. You can support our farmers and enjoy the freshest produce available at area markets. Check out the selections at these locations before they close for the season:
- Burnette Farms Market: Open year-round Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. at Alabama 261 just past Church of the Highlands but before Dollar General. Fresh fruits and vegetables, specialty dog treats, handmade soaps, plants, boiled peanuts and more.
- Mt Laurel Farmers Market and Craft Fair: Open Saturdays through Oct. 7, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at Mt Laurel Town Center. Fruits and vegetables, homemade salsas, jellies, breads, bakery items and artisan-made crafts.
- Valleydale Farmers Market: Open Saturdays, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at 4601 Valleydale Road. Run and operated by Community Markets, Inc., a non-profit company dedicated to bringing fresh, local produce to communities around Alabama and the Southeast.
- Chelsea Farmer’s Market: Open every Thursday, 3-6 p.m., in front of Chelsea City Hall.
