How We Met
JT and I (Jessie) met back in 2015 while we were dental students at UAB. Everything in the school is organized based on last name, and so my “S” and his “H” kept us just far enough apart that we didn’t interact with each other very often. That was up until the first day of our third year when JT randomly sat down next to me, and we began chatting about our time off from school. That same day at lunch, a mutual friend invited us both to get coffee at our favorite local spot, Lucy’s, and we were suddenly spending more time together on this one day than we had in the past two years. From that day forward, we went to Lucy’s every day to get coffee and developed a friendship that, after a few months, turned into love.
Favorite Moment
My dad had passed away several years before, and I spent a great deal of time thinking about walking down the aisle and decided that I was going to walk alone because my dad was irreplaceable. We practiced it for the rehearsal and everything was working smoothly, but something didn’t feel right. JT and I talked it over several times the next morning and decided that he and I were going to walk down the aisle together instead. It was the most perfect, romantic and special moment for me to have JT there holding my hand as we walked to the ceremony arch together.
Favorite Details
Michelle Lewis at Edelweiss Design House took my vision and turned it into an amazing, jaw-dropping masterpiece. She made the flowers feel like they were more than just a decorative backdrop; they focal point for the whole weekend and incorporated into every aspect of our wedding: the cake displays, the ceremony arch, the centerpieces for the bridesmaid luncheon, the welcome table, the aisle markers. Literally everything was dripping in flowers.
