How did you two meet?
We met the old fashion way on Hinge. My friends set up my Hinge profile in hopes that I’d finally agree to go on a date with someone. I matched with Spencer and noticed that we had mutual friends. We started texting, and I forgot to answer him…for three months. I finally texted him back, after looking through my phone and seeing that I hadn’t. He asked me to dinner. He drove to our first date with a shattered windshield because he “didn’t want to wait another three months.”
The Proposal
I “knew” he wasn’t proposing because my family and friends were out of town. So, we went to our typical weekend hangout spot, the Grocery, before heading to dinner with some friends. Spencer said, “Let’s go out back,” which if you know the Grocery- that’s weird, and before I could even respond, he was on his way out there. We sat down out back, and he asked, “Remember the last time we sat at this table?” I of course remembered that’s where we shared our first kiss. I turned to look at him, and he was on one knee! (Everyone who said they were out of town lied).
Favorite Wedding Moment
Our favorite moment from our wedding was being surrounded by all of the people we love. Our friends and family really made us feel so loved and celebrated. Also, my onstage performance singing Lizzo was a crowd favorite.
Favorite Wedding Details
I’ll say having our family friend sing the father daughter dance song. Having “both dads” a part of that moment was special. Also, my grandmother, who was battling Alzheimer’s, couldn’t be there. I surprised my sister and mom and had rings made for them out of the cameo earrings she had given me. It was a special thing, getting to look down and be reminded of her throughout the day. Together, our favorite detail was our specialty drink menu, which included our favorite drinks named after our two dogs, Harry and Lola.
