Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum
All aboard the Calera and Shelby Train! These first-generation, diesel-electric locomotives provide a nostalgic trip through the beautiful Shelby County countryside along a portion of the former L&N Alabama Mineral Railroad, which was established in 1891. First Friday Festival

Brought to patrons by Calera Main Street, this month’s First Friday theme will be “back to school.” This festival is sponsored by Central State bank, which will be giving away free backpacks to students to start the school year off right. CashBack 2024 – A Tribute to Johnny Cash

The Song Theater at the Shelby County Arts Council
Led by Leif Bondarenko, CashBack is a Birmingham-based, Johnny Cash tribute band including members Gary Edmonds (electric and acoustic guitars, vocals); Eric Onimus (bass); Joshua Green (acoustic and electric guitar, vocals); and Tommy Bowen (trumpet, keyboard, vocals). The Links Fore Scholars Golf Tournament
Monday, Aug. 26 | 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m.

Brought to patrons by the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce, this year’s Links Fore Scholars golf tournament will feature a shot-gun start, signaling four-person teams to begin the tournament at the same time but at different holes on the course. Similar to a scramble format, players will decide the best hit amongst their team members as they navigate the course to finish the quickest. Awards will be given to teams with the straightest drive, longest drive, ball nearest the pin and best putt, too. There will also be a hole-in-one prize.
