BUSTER BRITTON MEMORIAL TRIATHLON

Oak Mountain State Park

The Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon is returning to Pelham for the 35th consecutive version with a 1,200-yard swim, 24-mile bike and a 5.5-mile run. At 7:30 a.m., the sprint race will kick off with a 400-yard swim, 12-mile bike and a 3-mile run. Registration for the three races ranges in price from $70-115 for individuals. There is special pricing for multiple registrations. Registration can be completed by visiting Team-magic.com.

ARTS COUNCIL FUNDRAISING LUNCHEON

The annual fundraising luncheon benefiting the Shelby County Arts Council starts with an art sale at 10 a.m. and then lunch at 11 a.m. This luncheon is hosted by the three federated women’s clubs of Columbiana (Culture Club, Vignette Club, Novella Club). Entertainment this year is the “Hot Tamales” – Jan Hunter and Krista Tingle-Higginbotham. Lunch will be catered by the Fish Market. 17TH ANNUAL SAVE THE O’S 5K AND FUN RUN

John Johnson and the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation will host the17th annual Save The O’s 5K, in honor of Lori Johnson. Since Lori’s passing in 2006, Save the O’s has been instrumental in funding NLOCF’s mission to raise funds for ovarian cancer research, increase awareness about the risks, symptoms and treatments of this disease, and provide assistance and support to women and their families.
