How We Met
Andrew and I (Anna) met in our junior year of high school at Spain Park. We went to the fair on our first date, and to this day has always been the most fun date I’ve been on. It ended up not working out then, but he stayed persistent throughout high school. After senior year we both attended Auburn University but lost contact. Two years later we ran into each other and began to catch up. It was not long before we began dating the spring of our sophomore year of college.
The Proposal
My parents’ neighbor, a photographer, asked if Andrew and I would be willing to do a couple’s photoshoot to help her with her portfolio, and we were taking photos next to Double Oak Community Church, where my family and I have attended for many years, when photographer said she was going to change her lens. Andrew got down and one knee and proposed. As soon as I said yes, all of our family and friends ran out of the church doors.
Favorite Moment
When all the guests were lining up for our final exit, Andrew and I danced to “I Get to Love You” by RUELLE. As we danced, we talked about the whole day. We were fully present and the fact we were married really began to sink in. This moment was so special and intimate. I will never forget the feeling of dancing alone with my new husband.
Favorite Details
During the ceremony, we had a moment where our parents came up and we prayed privately while a soloist performed “The Blessing.” We also had Cahaba River Strings play as guests were seated and during the procession. This was always a dream of mine. I loved the classic wedding songs, and I loved how romantic it made the ceremony feel.
