Mama Coco Cantina & Gumbo to Geaux
My favorite sit down restaurant in Calera is Mama Coco Cantina. We eat there a lot! You can often find me gathering with friends after City Council meetings, enjoying their ceviche and spinach dip! With so many events downtown, we often have food trucks too, so I must mention Gumbo to Geaux as my favorite mobile meal and caterer. You have to try their Swamp Monster Burger! I pair it with their fried okra and bread pudding.
Thriving in Community
Adventurer’s Coffee Co.
My work with Calera Main Street has me in and out of the shops and properties in our historic district, so much so that I usually have my laptop open at my favorite coffee shop, Adventurer’s Coffee Co. I had the pleasure of meeting James Spann at a book signing here. I gave him a hard time about beating me for “Best Personality” in the last “Best of the Best” contest! Maybe next year.

Calera’s Annual Trunk or Treat Celebration
It’s hard to choose a favorite event since we have so many First Friday celebrations from March through August, but I would have to say that my favorite is Downtown Calera’s Annual Trunk or Treat. This was the very first event we ever held. We were blown away by how many people came out!
Helping Hands
Collectivus Church
I spend most of my time focused on downtown revitalization and economic development. While every new business opening is exciting, Collectivus Church holds a special place in my heart. Located in what once was a beloved department store that sat vacant for many years, I had the opportunity to work alongside some incredible volunteers to clean out, remodel and restore the property into a home for our church and a new chic-industrial event center.

A Beautiful Calera Wedding
My all-time favorite memory in Calera was my daughter’s wedding in 2020. It was an intimate ceremony in the oldest church building in the City of Calera. The historic Presbyterian Church was built in 1885 and is a real hidden gem. We held the reception at Ozan Winery. The weather was perfect for a sunset dinner and dancing!
