The Proposal

Chase told me (Haley) that we were going to play a sunset round of golf with some of our friends one Friday afternoon in the summer. Little did I know the fifth hole had a beautiful view. When we got there, he wanted me to come see it from the tee box, which is where he surprised me and got down on one knee. He had our friends and family waiting back at his family’s house to surprise me with a party.

The Dress

My wedding dress was the first one that I tried on. I loved the lace appliques throughout the skirt of the dress. My grandmother passed away since then, so we had a piece of the blue shirt she wore to my engagement party sewn into the skirt of the dress as my “something blue.”

Favorite Moment

We read letters from each other right before the first look. I was in tears before he even turned around. It was such a special moment to spend with each other before the craziness of the day started.

Favorite Details

My grandmother’s favorite color was yellow, so some of my favorite details were the pale yellow flowers in mine and my family’s bouquets and my yellow shoes. I was really close with my grandmother, so it was so important to me that there were details that made her feel present even if she couldn’t be there. Chase’s grandfather built a hot rod for him when he was little that we used as our getaway car. It was so fun to drive off in at the end of the day! We got lots of comments about the “yellow car.” I also loved the greenery wall that Chase and my father-in-law made for the wedding. It made a great background for pictures.

What We Are Doing Now

I am teaching kindergarten in Pelham, and Chase is coaching PE in Hoover.
