March Events Not to Miss in Shelby County

Spring is right around the corner, and it’s time to start making plans. We have compiled a list of local events coming up to help you prepare for this new season.

•Columbiana Cowboy Day

Feb. 29 // Columbiana Main Street

Columbiana’s annual Cowboy Day will be held on North Main Street from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. This celebration of “all things cowboy” will feature vendors and artisans, live music, line dancing, a chili cookoff, a corn hole tournament, a hobby horse tournament and more. •CashBack: A Tribute to Johnny Cash

March 7 // Shelby County Arts Center

This Johnny Cash tribute, led by Leif Bondarenko, will feature some of the finest pickers around. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Visit Shelbycountyartscouncil.com for more details or to purchase tickets.

•Barks and Brews

March 7 // Oversoul Brewing

The third-annual Barks and Brews event, hosted by Shelby Emergency Assistance and sponsored by Bradford Real Estate, will feature food from Brother Beard’s Backyard BBQ, plus a live performance by the Love Rat Band.

•High School Student Juried Art Exhibit

March 23 // Shelby County Arts Center

The Shelby County Arts Council’s 2020 High School Student Juried Art Exhibit will be on display through April 19 in the EBSCO Fine Art Gallery. Artists’ work will represent different categories, such as drawing, painting, 3D, mixed media and photography.

•Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market

March 28 // Oak Mountain State Park

Hop on over to Oak Mountain State Park’s 14^th annual Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market, starting at 9 a.m. The Easter Bunny will be there, plus complimentary hay rides will be going all day. The event will also feature inflatables, feathered friends from the Alabama Wildlife Center, yard games for the family, pony rides, food trucks and lots of local vendors. Don’t forget your Easter basket!

•V.I.B. Party

March 28 // Helena Hollow

Hoppy Hollow presents the V.I.B. party – reserved for the Very Important Bunny and guests. Come to the farm and enjoy two hours of games, crafts and animals, plus meet the Bunny Man himself. This will be a ticketed event, so visit the Helena Hollow Facebook page (@helenahollowal) for details.
