How You Met: Ben and I (Courtney) met during our junior year at Ole Miss. After our first date–that ended with us being asked to leave Jinsei because they were closing–we knew that we were the one for each other.
The Proposal: Ben and I dated for three years, and during my last semester of graduate school at Ole Miss, all my friends came in town for the biggest rivalry baseball weekend – Mississippi State. I was convinced we were going to Lenora’s, our favorite place for dinner. On the way we stopped to take pictures in the Oxford Square by the courthouse, and then Ben signaled my friends to distract me. I turned around and he was on one knee asking me to marry him! Ben had both of our families hiding around the Square, watching the proposal the whole time.
Favorite Wedding Details: We planned our wedding for a year and two months. On our wedding day, we had all of our favorite foods: hot dogs, mac ‘n cheese, shrimp and grits, and lots of cake! Ben’s gift to me was a Bible with my new name on it and our wedding date. This gift is something I will cherish forever. Ben and I had our first dance to “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole, which expressed both of our outgoing, cheerful personalities. June 2 was a day we will forever be thankful for and so grateful that all of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us!
What You Are Doing Now: We currently live in Collierville, Tennessee, with our Double Doodle, Maverick. We are both in the financial business as an accountant and a financial advisor.
