Junior Miss picnic
Participants in this year’s Shelby County Junior Miss competition gathered June 29 at Heardmont Park off Highway 119 for a mid–summer picnic. The girls came together to get to know one another, learn more about each other’s respective schools and begin preparations for the program July 31.
A total of 25 girls from around the county plan to compete in the program which emphasizes community involvement and academic excellence, as well as encouraging young women to be well–rounded.
This year’s event will take place at 7 p.m. July 30 and July 31 at Oak Mountain High School. For more information about the national program, visit Ajm.org.
