Among those welcoming the First Lady were John Bragg, chairman of the board of The King’s Ranch and Hannah Homes; Lew Burdette, president of The King’s Ranch and Hannah Homes; Marsha Drennen, capital campaign chair for Hannah Home Shelby; Rita Wood, founding president of the Hannah Home Shelby Auxiliary; Amy Reese, president of the auxiliary; and Linda Connell, the home director. Mixing and mingling at the event were Peggy Devane, Sarah Moseley, Laverne Reese, Kelly Reese, Liz Sherrill, Lucy Mason, Mary Byrd, Christy Jackson, Nona Hurst, Connie Blalock, Lois Tipton, Pam Spivey, Elise Hearn, Billie Holleman, Jane Ann Stone, Valerie Donnelly, Janie Dollar, Margaret Stewart, Tamara Moser, residents and staff.

Spring flower arrangements of caladiums, ferns, jasmine and chartreuse vines decorated the food tables filled with mini-cupcakes, brownies, lemon tarts, fruit and cheese trays, chess squares, tea sandwiches and a special punch, the Governor’s Mansion Peachy Tea Punch, made by one of the residents.

Marsha Drennen recounted the many ways “Miss Patsy” has used her influence to help raise money for the home, while Rita Wood reminded everyone of Miss Patsy’s role in building the Auxiliary, as the first charter member.  Amy Reese announced the Auxiliary’s Annual Membership Coffee in October at the Governor’s Mansion.

Miss Patsy received a special gift of a Swarovski dragonfly pin and a dozen roses to commemorate the event.  The cross will be hung in the home’s Sweet Hour of Prayer Room, which is dedicated in memory of Jenice, an angel among us.

Hannah Home Shelby is a Christian home for homeless and abused women and children, a ministry of The King’s Ranch and Hannah Homes.
